An apparatus generates truly random numbers. The apparatus includes a container that is at least partially filled with a fluid (e.g., water or air). The apparatus includes one or more cameras configured to capture images of one or more objects (e.g., dice) in the fluid. The apparatus includes one or more agitators configured to agitate the fluid. Agitation of the fluid by the one or more agitators cause the one or more objects to move within the fluid. The apparatus includes a random number generation circuit coupled to the one or more cameras. The random number generation circuit is configured to generate random numbers based on the captured images. In some embodiments, each of the one or more objects includes one or more physical features. The images captured by the one or more cameras include at least a subset of physical features of the one or more physical features.
The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for using mutable privacy tables to secure electronic communications. A first electronic device obtains a first version of a privacy table and applies a predefined hashing algorithm to the first version of the privacy table to generate a second version of the privacy table. The first electronic device obtains a first message for transmission to a second electronic device that (i) has a copy of the first version of the privacy table and (ii) has access to the predefined hashing algorithm. The first electronic device generates a primary key based on the second version of the privacy table. The first electronic device encrypts the first message using the primary key to form an encrypted first message and transmits the encrypted first message and a version identifier for the second version of the privacy table to the second electronic device.
A method performed at a first electronic device includes: (i) storing a privacy table that comprises random numbers at the first electronic device, (ii) transmitting the privacy table to a second electronic device over an encrypted channel, (iii) receiving a first message for transmission to the second electronic device, (iv) generating a map based on the privacy table, (v) generating a primary key based on the map and the privacy table, and (vi) encrypting the first message using the primary key to form an encrypted first message. The method also includes (vii) transmitting the map and the encrypted first message to the second electronic device, thereby enabling the second electronic device to decrypt the encrypted first message by recreating the primary key based on the map and the privacy table and decrypting the encrypted first message using the recreated primary key.

Electromechanical apparatus, system, and method for generating true random numbers
An apparatus generates truly random numbers. The apparatus includes a container that is at least partially filled with a fluid (e.g., water or air). The apparatus also includes objects (e.g., dice) suspended freely in the fluid. The apparatus includes agitators configured to agitate the fluid, and cameras configured to capture images of the objects. When the agitators agitate the fluid, the objects move freely (e.g., move with the created currents) in the fluid in the container. The apparatus also includes a random number generation circuit coupled to the cameras. The random number generation circuit is configured to generate random numbers based on the images captured by the cameras. In some embodiments, the agitators are one or more motor-driven propellers that stir the fluid. Some embodiments use a hydraulic pump to agitate the fluid (e.g., circulating the fluid using both a push action and a pull action).
