In some aspects, the geospatial knowledge graph is operable to aggregate and relate heterogeneous data associated with points of interests, entities, people, etc. Temporal information can also be integrated into the geospatial knowledge graph to track changes in heterogeneous data over geospatial regions over time.
Systems and methods are described herein for determining user exposures to content, such as content presented by physical objects (e.g., advertisements on billboards). The systems and methods may determine a probability (an “exposure probability”) that a user has viewed or consumed content, information, or other visual media presented by a physical object, such as a billboard, vehicle, sign, or other structure, and provide the determined probability to various attribution systems, such as systems that attribute user engagements (e.g., store visits, app downloads, website visits, product purchases, and so on) to earlier content exposures.

A system and method for attributing in-store visits to exposure to advertisement (“ad”) impressions associated with an ad campaign are disclosed. The system gathers impression data and uses that data to identify users who were exposed to the ad impressions. The system then uses location data, activity information and in some instances beacon data points reported by mobile devices of the impression users to determine if the impression users visited a target place during a conversion window. Based on the impression users who were exposed to the ad impressions, the system establishes a control group of users who were not exposed to the ad impressions to perform quasi-experimental analyses to assess whether the ad impressions had any impact on changing the impression users' physical in-store visitation behavior.

In aspects, passive information is received from a client computing device. The client computing device is detected as being located at a predicted venue using the passive information. It may be determined whether directed information associated with the predicted venue has been displayed at an earlier time on a predetermined portion of the client computing device. Systems and methods are provided that presents interesting local content to users at times when the content is most actionable and engaging without the user explicitly entering a search term or expressing intent. In one implementation, the system uses contextual signals about a user to rank local content. Signals may include, for example, who they (one or more users) are, what kinds of places they like, where they are, how familiar they are with the area, the time of day, where the user's friends have been nearby, among other information related to the one or more users. A system may be provided that uses contextual rules and machine learning to target content to users. The system learns which of these contextual signals are most important and alters its ranking function to optimize user engagement in terms of conversions.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROMOTING ITEMS WITHIN A LOCATION-BASED SERVICE
A mobile application is provided that provides promoted items within a location-based service. Advertisers or other providers are permitted to have messages displayed within the mobile interface of a user within a list (or other user-interface type) of recommendations for venues. In one implementation, one or more venues may be scored based on a number of parameters (e.g., whether the user had been to the venue previously, whether their “friends” have been at the venue, whether they have unlocked “specials” or other types at this venue previously, their nearness or proximity to the venue, time of day, etc.) and if the venue has to been determined to be displayed within a list of venues, that special may be “promoted” to the top of the list that is displayed to the user. In this way, advertisers or other providers can signal location-based users of important items located proximate to the user's location. An interface may be provided to the advertiser or other provider to define a special or other message that is to be “promoted” to a top of the displayed list. In one embodiment, a promoted special is limited to being displayed in a list of a particular search category in which it was ranked.
