A station for locating and/or treating (10) surface defects on an object (11) (in particular a motor vehicle body) comprises a device (35) for "zeroing" the position of the object (11) in the station. This zeroing device (35) comprises in turn a projector (16) and at least one camera (17). The projector (16) projects a light grid (18) towards the zone of the station intended to receive the object (11) and a processing unit (19) for calculating the "zero position" calculates in the image taken by the camera (17) the position of predetermined points of the object (11) with respect to the grid. This calculation allows the deviation in position of the object with respect to the system of coordinates (20) of the station to be determined. In this way, when the object passes between various stations (10) it is possible to obtain always the real position of the defects detected, despite any differences in positioning of the object inside the stations.
A plant (10) for the detection, classification and treatment of defects on the surface of objects arriving sequentially at the plant comprises a first scanning station (13) suitable for scanning, at a first resolution, the surface of an object (11 ) for the identification of possible defects on the surface of the object (11 ), the production of coordinates of these possible defects and, if necessary, the initial classification thereof. A second scanning station (14) is suitable for scanning, at a second resolution, greater than the first resolution, the surface of the object (11 ) according to the coordinates produced by the first station, for a classification of the defects present at these coordinates on the surface of the object (11 ). A method for the automatic detection and classification of defects on the surface (15) of an object (11) comprises a first step and a second step. The first step involves detection of the defects and during this step a first scanning head (13a) for taking images at a first resolution is moved along scanning paths on the surface of the object, defects on the surfaces are located in the images taken by the first scanning head (13a) and the position of the defects is identified. The second step involves classification of the defects and during this step a second scanning head (13a) for taking images at a second resolution, higher than the first resolution, is moved to the positions of the defects detected in the first step and the defects are classified on the basis of the images taken by the second scanning head (13b).
A scanning head (13) for the detection of defects on surfaces (15) of an object (11) (in particular a motor vehicle body) is intended to be moved along scanning paths (14) on the surfaces of the object, for example using a positioner (16) in a detection station (10). The head comprises at least one linear camera (20) with a recording segment (24) which is transverse to the scanning path (14) so as to allow the composition of images of the surfaces by means of the sum of recording segments (24) acquired in succession by the camera during the movement of the head along the scanning paths (14). The head further comprises a main illuminator (21) which is arranged close to the camera (20) and two secondary illuminators arranged further away from the camera in the direction of movement of the head along the scanning paths, with one of the two secondary illuminators arranged at the front of and the other one at the rear of the camera with respect to the direction of movement of the head along the scanning paths.
A painting booth (10) comprises a painting chamber (11) inside which the paint is sprayed and which is provided with an air flow for evacuating the overspray, which is conveyed to at least one filtering unit (16) of the booth for filtering and separating the paint overspray from the air flow. The filtering unit (16) comprises a plurality of replaceable filter modules (17), each filter module (17) being removably contained inside its own housing (18) which comprises a front opening (18) which can be opened for extraction of the filter module from the housing.
