A gate hinge assembly is adapted to allow a gate to be able to be lifted or moved vertically during horizontal rotational movement about a support post. The assembly allows a gate to be pivotally connected at the top to a part which is connected and supported by the support post. The part provides sliding means at a lower end so that the lower end of the gate is slidably retained by the sliding means at a lower end of the part, to allow rotation of the lower end of the gate with respect to the lower end of the part, about a first pivot means at the top, such that a lower end of the gate is movably spaced from a corresponding lower end of the part. When in use, the gate and gate hinge assembly are horizontally rotated about the support post while at the same time, the gate is vertically raised about the gate hinge assembly in response to a changing contour of the support surface.
