Abrégé

A fuel container having a body defining a volume for receiving fuel. The body has an inlet and optionally a vent. The inlet extends upwards as a spout and has a threaded collar which is closed by a threaded cap. A gas expansion pathway is provided between the inlet and the vent. The spout has a guide for receiving and locating a dog-leg portion of a fuel dispenser nozzle. A restriction in the throat of the spout prevents the fuel dispenser nozzle from being inserted beyond a preselected distance into the container thereby preventing backwash and spillage.

Abrégé

A device (10) for connection to a fuel container (40) comprises: a threaded collar (73) for connecting to a thread on an opening of the fuel container. The device (10) has a neck (80) that extends away from the fuel container to a mouthpiece (104) and the length of the neck from the threaded collar to its mouthpiece (104) defines a guide for receiving a fuel dispenser nozzle. When the nozzle (82) is fully inserted in the neck, a dog-leg (83) part of the fuel dispenser is located at the mouth of the neck and a tip of the fuel dispenser nozzle is oriented and is positioned in the fuel container, at a preselected position from an upper surface of the fuel container to where liquid fuel is dispensed to the prescribed volume of the fuel container (40). In this location a Venturi shutoff mechanism, in the fuel dispenser gun (85), triggers so that a predefined volume of fuel is dispensed.
