As a result, excavation can be conducted efficiently utilizing the deadweight of the bucket device, which is an advantage of a bucket device suspended on a wire, while enabling a solution to the problems of a conventional device in which the wire is hung over a long distance from above the water to the underwater bottom.

This dredger comprises: a main frame (11) having a bottomed cylindrical shape; an elevator body (12) fitted onto an outer circumference of the main frame so as to slide up and down; a pair of raking plates (13) pivotably supported to a bottom end part of the elevator body so as to open and close an opening bottom end of the elevator body and rake in soil from an underwater bottom; an open/close driving device that drives the two raking plates to open and close; an ascend/descend driving device that drives the elevator body to ascend and descend with respect to the main frame; a soil discharge pipe (P) fixed inside the main frame with one end thereof open at a bottom wall (11b) of the main frame and another end connected to an upstream end of a soil transport pipe (8); and a check valve (15) that prevents backflow of the soil that has been pushed out from the soil discharge pipe toward the soil transport pipe. Excavated soil raked in by the raking plates is pushed into the soil discharge pipe as the elevator body (12) is driven upward with respect to the main frame (11), with the raking plates being in a closed state. As a result, the degree of design freedom of the bucket device is increased, and a sufficient pushing quantity can be secured without especially increasing the size of the raking plates.
