Provided is a shoulder rest for a stringed instrument that has one end attached so as to cover a part of a constricted portion of the stringed instrument body, and has another end attached to the vicinity of a chin rest provided at a lower portion of the stringed instrument body, so that the shoulder rest can naturally assist a player holding the stringed instrument without decreasing the acoustics when the stringed instrument is played. The shoulder rest for a stringed instrument of the present invention in use is attached to a stringed instrument that is played while being partly held on the shoulder or chest of a player. The shoulder rest for a stringed instrument comprises a plate-like body portion extending from one end to the other end, and a first attachment portion and a second attachment portion which are provided at both ends of the body portion, and is characterized in that the first attachment portion is configured to be attached so as to cover a part of at least a constricted portion of the stringed instrument body, and that the second attachment portion is configured to be attached to the vicinity of a chin rest provided at a lower part of the stringed instrument body.
