The regions of interest comprise a first region containing a date of birth on the ID and a second region containing the photograph. A text recognition module is used to extract the date of birth from the second region of interest and calculate a stated age of the person on the ID from the date of birth; and the face of the person detected in the first image is compared to the face in the photograph to determine if the person detected in the first image is the same as the person on the ID. An age verification message is outputted based on the stated age of the person on the ID and on the comparison between the face of the person detected in the first image and the face in the photograph.
