A dedusting apparatus removes dust and debris from particulate material flowing over the surface of a wash deck formed with steps and incorporating an air knife engaging the flow of particulate material as the material drops from one wash deck level to another. An ionizing wire is placed at each step on the wash deck so that the air knife blows negative ions from the ionizing wire into the particulate material falling off the step onto the level of wash deck below the ionizing wire. A compact dedusting apparatus induces air flow through the housing by a vacuum generator mounted within the housing. The discharge of dust and debris can be passed through a conduit to a remote location without losing air flow velocity to facilitate the use of the compact dedusting apparatus within a clean room. The metering device is formed from stainless steel and mounted on a spring-loaded mounting plate to permit vertical movement of the metering device when a jam of the particulate material is encountered. The metering device can be driven by a low torque stepper motor operable at selectively variable speeds to control the flow rate of the particulate material. The discharge transition is formed with an enlarged cross-sectional area compared to the shape of the Venturi zone so that carryover pellets can be returned to the product flow instead of being lost with the dirty air discharge.

Dedusting apparatus having actuator controlled inlet deflectors to provide adjustable product flow regulation
A dedusting apparatus is provided with movable inlet deflectors that are positionally controlled by actuators to vary the rate of flow of particulate material over the wash decks. The inlet deflectors are formed with a fixed member that extends between the front and rear walls of the dedusting apparatus and extends downwardly from the top wall to terminate in a spaced relationship to the surface of the wash decks. A movable member is operatively coupled to an actuator to overlie the fixed member and be movable to be adjacent the surface of the wash deck to terminate flow of material past the deflectors. Particulate material can accumulate above the wash decks and between the deflectors to fill the volume to the inlet opening to permit a full loading of flow over the full width of the wash decks when the deflectors are raised by the actuators.

Dedusting apparatus with dual offset discharge ports
A dedusting apparatus is formed with back-to-back wash decks sloped downwardly and outwardly from a central inlet opening through which contaminated particulate material in directed onto the wash decks. The wash decks terminate at discharge edges from which particulate material enters a Venturi zone outwardly from each wash deck. The housing for the dedusting apparatus includes a pair of laterally spaced outlet ports located below the respective Venturi zones for the collection of cleaned particulate material simultaneously with identical or different collection devices such that the discharge outlets are offset laterally from the central inlet opening. The discharge ends of the wash decks are supported by an angularly disposed support leg. The air manifold directs air into the apparatus through a central opening from which the air passes through openings in the two sloped wash decks and past the discharge edges of the wash decks to create the Venturi zones.
A dedusting apparatus is formed with a rectangular inlet structure that assures a fully loaded feeding of particulate material over the face of the opposing wash decks. A rectangular inlet box having substantially the same width dimension as the corresponding dimension of the adjacent wash decks provides an even distribution of particulate material over the entire surface of the wash decks. A reconfiguration of the air inlet structure eliminates a rearward air plenum and manifold by passing the air flow upwardly through the bottom wall of the apparatus housing, rather than through the rear wall. Individually adjustable inlet deflectors can regulate the product flow on each respective wash deck and can be closed to stop the product flow completely to either one or both of the wash decks. Actuators control the movement of the deflectors, which can be integrated in an overall electronic control system for the dedusting apparatus.

Cylindrical dedusting apparatus for particulate material
A cylindrical dedusting apparatus has an upper material infeed opening to introduce material into a frusto-conical infeed hopper centered over the tip of a conical wash deck supported over an air infeed conduit. Air is blown through slots and openings in the surface of the wash deck to separate dust and debris from the particulate material. The dust-laden air is discharged by passing between the infeed hopper and a cylindrical sleeve to enter into a circular collector for discharge from the apparatus. A pneumatic conveying process transports plastic pellets from a manufacturing source to a bulk silo for storage before being delivered to the ultimate production utilization of the plastic pellets. Multiple types or multiple sources of plastic pellets can be fed through a common pneumatic conveying conduit to respective bulk silos for temporary storage with diverter valves being utilized to direct product into and out of the common conveying conduit. Expanded elbow fittings are deployed at each directional change in the conveying lines to eliminate the creation of streamers at conduit bends. The plastic pellets are conveyed at a medium velocity between dense and dilute phases to provide a gentle conveying operation. A closed loop air supply system is used for dedusting devices providing a final removal of dust and debris from the stored product before being delivered to the ultimate utilization facility.

A dedusting apparatus has a product outlet offset laterally with respect to a vertical line passing through the product inlet. The dedusting apparatus has a primary wash deck structure with a flow of air passing therethrough into the flow of product. Product discharged off the lower end of the wash deck passes into a Venture zone fed by a flow of air passing through openings in the support leg for the wash deck. The offset dedusting apparatus allows installation of a dedusting apparatus onto a diagonally oriented product discharge conduit without requiring the reconfiguration of the angle of repose for the discharge conduit. The wash deck is formed with reverse slots having deflectors raised upwardly from the top surface of the wash deck to orient the slot to direct the air flow downwardly with the flow of product and to create turbulence in the product flow to facilitate cleaning.

Housing for a particulate material dedusting apparatus
A compact housing for a dedusting apparatus utilizes a magnetic flux field to disrupt the static charge attracting dust particles to product particles, which along with fluidization and counter current airflow principles that are proven to dislodge dust particles from the product, provides a highly efficient, compact deduster. The housing supports a double wash deck with product flow separated between the back-to-back primary wash decks. A deflector directing the flow of product onto the primary wash decks is provided with an extension that extends parallel to the wash deck to eliminated product bouncing off of the wash deck. The lower air outlets are eliminated, while the upper air outlets are positioned in extensions to the main housing above the product inlet opening. Air flow through the Venturi zones is enhanced by directing clean air through slots formed in the lower deck members into the Venturi zones.
Pneumatic conveyors and pneumatic conveyor systems comprised of air compressors and pneumatic controls for the pneumatic conveying of particulate material
Air flow through the Venturi zone is enhanced by re-directing clean air directly to the backside of the Venturi panels, thereby eliminating the extraneous by-pass boxes.
A recycling mechanism is provided for use with a compact dedusting apparatus to clean the contaminate-laden air discharged from the dedusting apparatus for subsequent re-use by the dedusting apparatus. The recycling mechanism provides a closed loop air containment system that retains the air within the apparatus without providing discharge to the atmosphere. The recycling mechanism includes a cyclonic separator that removes most of the dust and contaminates from the air discharged from the deduster. The air discharged from the cyclonic separator is passed to an inline high efficiency synthetic cartridge filter for final cleaning before being passed back into the fan that drives cleansing air through the deduster. The contaminant material removed by the cyclonic separator is collected by an air tight dust collection container installed at the cyclone outlet for subsequent removal from the system.
