Conventional liquid cyclone devices tend to break flocs and thus cannot be used for floc separation. Further, there are no ballast water treatment devices that can simultaneously remove plastics and microplastics floating in the sea. In addition, there are no ships or ship operation methods that address the problem of pollution due to plastics and microplastics floating in the sea.
To achieve cyclone separation of a fluid including easily broken flocs, flocs that include a magnetic body are guided by means of centrifugal force and magnetic force to a flow in the vicinity of an outer shell of a cyclone, then to a channel between an inner shell and the outer shell, and discharged from a lower outlet. The inner shell prevents an upward flow from affecting the flocs, making it possible to achieve reliable separation of the flocs.

FLOCCULATION CYCLONE DEVICE, MARINE PLASTIC REMOVAL SYSTEM USING FLOCCULATION CYCLONE DEVICE, SHIP PROVIDED WITH MARINE PLASTIC REMOVAL SYSTEM USING FLOCCULATION CYCLONE DEVICE, AND OPERATION METHOD FOR SHIP PROVIDED WITH MARINE PLASTIC REMOVAL SYSTEM USING FLOCCULATION CYCLONE DEVICE
Conventional liquid cyclone devices tend to break down floc and therefore cannot be used for floc separation. Moreover, there are no ballast water treatment devices that can simultaneously remove plastics and microplastics that float in the sea. In addition, there are no ships or operation methods for ships that address the problem of pollution with plastics and microplastics that float in the sea. To achieve cyclone separation of a fluid that includes easily broken-down floc, the present invention uses centrifugal force and magnetic force to lead floc that includes a magnetic body into a flow near an outer shell of a cyclone, to lead the floc into a channel between an inner shell and the outer shell, and to discharge the floc from a lower outflow port. The inner shell prevents an upward flow from affecting the floc, making it possible for the floc to be reliably separated.

Flocculation and magnetic separation device; system for purifying marine plastic, microplastic, and ballast water having the flocculation and magnetic separation device; ship equipped with the system; and operation method of the ship
In a conventional flocculation and magnetic separation device, it was not possible to make the device downsized because the flocs are easily broken. In addition, there was no system for the ballast water treatment that is capable of simultaneous removal of plastics and microplastics drifting in the ocean. Furthermore, there were no ships and their navigation method capable of solving the pollution problem caused by plastics and microplastics floating in the ocean. By arranging a magnetic drum that rotates in a direction opposite to the flow of a fluid containing flocs and by changing the flow path by about 180 degrees or so immediately before contacting the magnetic drum, the flocs can be removed without breaking. This method can downsize the size of the magnetic drum with the required area reduced. By combining small-sized flocculation and magnetic separation device and a device that breaks and recovers floating plastics, it is possible to remove plastics and microplastics floating in the ocean at the same time. By taking into account the status of marine plastics in the ship's planned route information, it becomes possible to remove plastics and microplastics floating on the ocean by the ship.

FLOCCULATION AND MAGNETIC SEPARATION DEVICE, SHIP EQUIPPED THEREWITH, AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAME
[Problem] With conventional flocculation and magnetic separation devices, it has been impossible to produce smaller-scale devices, because the floc is easily destroyed. There also has not been any ballast water treatment device capable of simultaneously removing plastic or microplastics floating in the ocean. Moreover, there has been no ship or method of operating same for solving the pollution problems caused by plastics and microplastics floating in the ocean. [Solution] By providing a magnetic drum that rotates in a direction which is the reverse of the flow of a fluid containing floc, and by changing a flow path by around 180° immediately prior to contact with the magnetic drum, it becomes possible to achieve a smaller-scale magnetic drum that is able to remove the floc without breaking same and that needs less surface area. Combining a device for destroying/recovering floating plastics with the smaller-scale flocculation and magnetic separation device makes it possible to simultaneously remove plastics and microplastics floating in the ocean. With respect to the planned route information of a ship, giving consideration to marine plastic conditions would enable ships to remove plastics and also microplastics floating in the ocean.
