The invention relates to a spreading machine for spreading material to be scattered such as fertiliser or seed, comprising a container (1) for accommodating the material to be scattered, a metering element (13) arranged downstream of the container, and a conveying line (6) for the metered material to be scattered, which line is arranged downstream of the metering element and opens into a spreader head (7), and to which line an air stream can be applied. Said spreader head has a plurality of connections, a housing (18) being connected to at least one or in particular a plurality of the connections, which housing accommodates a shut-off element (22) for interrupting, as required, the stream of material to be scattered, to which shut-off element a spreader line (8) can be connected. The housing according to the invention also accommodates a sensor (30) designed to detect the stream of material to be scattered. The sensor is arranged on the periphery of the duct (20) for the material to be scattered, said duct passing through the housing and being connected at one end to the spreader head upstream of the sensor and at the other end to the spreader line downstream of the sensor.
