The subject of the invention is the vertical band saw with moving sawhead which solves the technical problems of ensuring a smaller manipulation space of the machine with the same capacity, automatic removal of cut log pieces and increased energy efficiency. The vertical band saw with moving sawhead comprises at least the vertical tilting band saw (1), the manipulation table for log preparation (2), the structure of the manipulation table for log preparation (3), the conveyor system for cut workpieces (4), the chassis with guide rails (5) and the loading system of the saw (6), whereby the vertical tilting band saw (1) is movable and moves along the plane when cutting logs. The vertical tilting band saw (1) or band saw blade in the cutting area is positioned on the plane of cutting which comprises an acute angle with the vertical plane running along the movement of the vertical tilting band saw (1). The cut piece is led downwards along the log due to its own weight and falls on the conveyor system for cut workpieces (4), from where the conveyor system for cut workpieces (4) transports it from the system.
