The present invention presents a novel oxygenator of the invention provides a revolutionary engineering design and management of the flow regime in a completely different way from the existing and accepted regime in the field of oxygenators, that further lower the risk levels associated with the use of oxygenators and reduces the manufacturing cost. The revolutionary technology is aimed to divert the world of blood oxygenation from the use of technology that relies on a fiber membrane or gas bubbles and causes substantial damage to the patient's blood, towards the use of technology that allows the exchange of gases without a membrane at all and is aimed to reduces risks and improves patient outcome.
This invention is directed to system and methods for the oxygenation of the blood of a patient, comprising an extracorporeal blood circulation path adapted to be coupled to the patient's vascular system, and comprising apparatus for oxygenating blood flowing therein and withdrawing CO2 therefrom, wherein the flow rate of blood flowing in said extracorporeal blood circulation path does not exceed ⅖ of the patient's blood flow. The extracorporeal blood circulation path preferably comprise a cartridge including an oxygenator and at least one cannula.

TRANSFORMABLE DUAL LUMEN CANNULA INTO A SINGLE LUMEN CANNULA AND METHODS OF USE
The present invention is directed to a dual lumen cannula configured to be inserted into a patient's body as simple as a single lumen cannula. The dual lumen cannula includes at least one inner lumen configured to be inserted into an outer lumen and connected via an inner lumen connection unit and an outer unit connection unit. Embodiments of the presenting invention further allow for the connection of at least one flow router to the other end of the inner lumen connection unit. When installed, the outer lumen is first inserted into the patient's body, followed by the insertion of the inner lumen into the outer lumen of the already cannulated patient until the inner lumen connector unit is in coupling contact with the outer lumen connector unit. The invention is also directed to a transformable dual lumen cannula into a single lumen cannula and vice versa that allow patients that are first being treated by low flow approach to be treated by high flow approach.
This invention is directed to a cannula fixation device comprising at least: an open frame configured to be mounted on a patient's neck, said frame having at least one opening for allowing approach to at least one neck artery and/or vein; at least one cannula holder configured to allow securing of a cannula to said frame; and at least one fastening element for closing the open frame onto the patient's neck and adjusting it to the neck's dimensions, wherein the cannula fixation device is configured to secure at least one cannula inserted into the neck artery and/or vein of said patient and preserve the cannula position within the artery and/or vein in any body positioning, while said patient is lying down, standing, or sitting.
