Abrégé

Provided is an armed suture spooling device that facilitates a spooling operation with respect to a spool tray and allows for easy adjustment of the suture end position. A spool tray 10 for housing an armed suture, which is a suture with a suture needle attached thereto, comprises: a container portion 20 having a bottom surface 21 and a side wall 25; and a sheet-shaped lid portion 30 that fits inside the side wall. A spooling device comprises an upper surface element 50, a lower surface element 60, a circling element 70, and connecting posts 80. The upper surface element and the lower surface element have a planar shape identical to that of the spool tray. The upper surface element includes an upper surface rotational portion 51 rotatable around an axis perpendicular to the lid portion. The lower surface element includes a lower surface rotational portion 61 rotatable around the same axis as that of the upper surface rotational portion. The circling element includes a claw portion 76 which is inserted through a gap between the lid portion and the side wall of the container portion into the container portion. The claw portion includes a thread-passing portion 77 at the tip-end thereof through which the suture is passed. The spool tray is sandwiched between the upper surface element from the upper surface side of the lid portion, and the lower surface element from the lower surface side of the bottom surface of the container portion. The connecting posts extend through the lid portion and the bottom surface of the container portion, with the ends of the connecting posts being connectable to post-insertion portions 55, 65 respectively provided in the upper surface element and the lower surface element. In a state in which the upper surface rotational portion and the lower surface rotational portion are pressed, the spool tray, the upper surface element, and the lower surface element can be integrally rotated, whereby the suture that has passed through the thread-passing portion can be wound inside the spool tray.

Abrégé

Provided is a medical suture needle configured so as to reduce the risk of bending and cracks occurring in a tip part in which a point is formed. The medical suture needle includes a cutting blade section (10) and a body section (20) that is continuous with the cutting blade section. The cutting blade section comprises one bottom surface (11) and two inclined surfaces (12) and includes a point (13) at which the one bottom surface and the two inclined surfaces meet, a cutting blade (14) formed so as to be continuous from the point and such that the bottom surface and the inclined surfaces meet, and a ridge (15) formed so as to be continuous from the point and such that the two inclined surfaces meet. The thickness of the cutting blade section decreases from the body section toward the point. The two inclined surfaces include grooves (18) that have a curved surface shape, that each have a preset size, and that are formed along the ridge starting from the position of the cutting blade so as to be separated from the point by a predetermined distance. The lower edges (18c) of the grooves separate from the cutting blade toward the ridge side as the grooves approach the body section side in the end sections of said grooves on the body section side.

Abrégé

Provided is a manufacturing method for a needle equipped suture for which fluctuation in pull-out load is small, and which has good ease of use. Provided is a needle equipped suture formed by opening a stop hole (14) from the base end surface (13a) of an eyeless suture needle (10) along the length direction of the eyeless suture needle (10), and inserting a suture (18) into the stop hole (14) and performing crimping. The crimping amount that is in accordance with the size of the diameter of the stop hole (14) of the eyeless suture needle (10) is added so that the cross sectional shape of a crimped section is circular, and so that the axial length of the crimped section is less than the diameter of the eyeless suture needle (10). This configuration enables the suture (18) to be drawn out of the eyeless suture needle using a pull-out load the size of which is in a specific range, and enables fluctuations in the pull-out force to be reduced.

Abrégé

[Problem] To provide a medical cutting tool with low impalement resistance. [Solution] The edged medical cutting tool comprising a knife, trocar or cutting suture needle has a sharp edge (1) for incising living tissue and a flat part (2) that configures the edge, and the color of the portion of the flat part (2a) along the edge (1) differs from the color of the rest of the flat part (2b). The difference in color results from a difference in the thickness of an oxide film. Another edged medical cutting tool is configured of austenite stainless steel and has a sharp edge (1) for incising living tissue and a flat part (2) that configures the edge. The chrome content of the portion of the flat part (2a) along the edge is higher than the chrome content of the rest of the flat part (2b).

Abrégé

[Problem] Because the knife edge of medical knives such as straight knives manufactured with austenite stainless steel is thin and sharp, there is the problem that the knife edge bends too easily when making incisions in the cornea, sclera, etc. during ophthalmologic surgery. The invention provides a medical knife capable of increasing the strength of the thin, sharp knife edge and preventing the reduction of sharpness. [Solution] This medical knife has a flat cutting part and an inclined surface formed along the border of said cutting part. By electrolytic polishing or chemical polishing of the inclined surface, a convexly curved cutting edge is formed on at least the edge of the inclined surface of the knife. The knife edge has a rounded configuration. The knife edge being rounded increases the thickness of the knife edge, increases the strength thereof and hinders bending.

Abrégé

Disclosed is a surgical knife capable of preventing excessive etching and furthermore reducing the resistance to piercing; also disclosed is a manufacturing method thereof. The surgical knife is formed from a round bar (15) of austenitic stainless steel having a fibrous structure. The manufacturing method involves: a step for forming on the round bar (15) an operation portion (16), which is the portion of the knife for piercing or cutting open living tissue, such that the fibrous structure is oriented in the direction of the central axis (a); a step for forming polishing marks (24) on the operation portion of the surgical knife; and a step for processing by etching the operation portion (23) after polishing. Said etching processing forms multiple craters (26) in the operation portion but is only carried out to a degree at which no grooves form along the direction of the fibrous structure, and a silicon coating is applied from above.
