An unlicensed access point is configured to identify its location and to determine licensed 6 GHz users near that location. The access point periodically generates a beacon frame including a request for location information. Client devices within range of the beacon frame provide their location information to the access point. The access point access point uses the location information gathered from client devices to determine its own location. The access point communicates with a central database containing information on registered licenses within the 6 GHz communication band at the location determined from the client devices. The access point then selects a communication channel within the 6 GHz band that does not conflict with any licensed users in the area, and provides Wi-Fi communication over the selected channel.

Multi-band network node having selectable backhaul/fronthaul configurations
A multi-band network node has selectable backhaul/fronthaul configurations. Network nodes provide multi-band operation to take advantage of higher Internet speeds and to support lower latency (>2 Gbps, <4 ms latency) applications. A greater Wi-Fi device count (capacity) is supported by implementing communication over additional bands. Increased bandwidth is made available between connected nodes by selectively combining backhaul throughputs. Hardware quality-of-service (QoS) is provided by splitting traffic flows for low latency and data applications. Network coverage is extended by dynamic assignment of backhaul connections and by configuring unused backhauls as fronthauls.

Systems and methods for controlling the transmit power and the receive sensitivity of an access point for achieving symmetric link balancing is described. When an access point operates with symmetric link performance, the access point does not inefficiently use available bandwidth for transmitting or re-transmitting to a client station that cannot communicate with the access point. Moreover, the access point does not back off transmissions due to activity of neighboring basic service sets when not needed. The receive sensitivity can be controlled using a hardware attenuator or software commands that adjust a programmable gain in a wireless local area network chipset used by the access point, or it can be controlled using adjustable levels in the software for processing or responding to packets.

A sensor gateway manages wireless communications to sensors and the exchange of data between the sensors and a connection to the Internet. A sensor gateway processor runs the network and wireless stack, automatically picks the same channel as the home access point (AP), and runs sensor software to provide the sensors with low power, wireless support and deep sleep support. The sensor gateway selects same channel as the home AP by following the strongest beacon or by following the home AP service set identifier (SSID), in case more than one strong beacon is present. If the home AP and sensor gateway are placed close by and are on a different channel in 2.4G, there is destructive interference between the two devices. By using same channel on the sensor gateway as that of the home AP, both devices can coexist in same band without destructive interference.
The subject matter disclosed herein describes integrating an antenna with a connector shroud of an electronic device used for conducting diagnostics. By integrating the antenna with the connector shroud, the device can be made smaller while still allowing for effective communication of results wirelessly to a remote system. In implementations such as On-board Diagnostics (OBD) II for motor vehicles, this may allow the device to remain present in the vehicle, conveniently while driving, for continuous monitoring and diagnostic feedback to a remote system, by consuming the least amount of space which may be needed by the driver.
A wireless station implements a technique to reduce the occurrence of collisions between messages in a wireless network by dynamically modify a message interval during a communication session, based on received information indicative of beacon timing. The technique can be implemented by an access point on a wireless local area network to reduce collisions of beacon transmissions. The received information can include information indicative of beacon timing of other wireless stations, difficulty of a wireless station in receiving beacon transmissions, device capabilities, and/or other information.

The disclosed methods and systems use artificial intelligence (Al) and machine learning (ML) technologies to model the usage and interference on each channel. For example, units of the system can measure channel interference regularly over the time of day on all radios. The interference information is communicated to the base unit or a cloud server for pattern analysis. Interference measurements include interference from units within the system as well as interference from nearby devices. The base unit or the cloud server can recognize the pattern of the interference. Further, connected devices have a number of network usage characteristics observed and modeled including bitrate, and network behavior. These characteristics are used to assign channels to connected devices.

Systems and methods for cable and WLAN coexistence
Various of the disclosed embodiments improve the operations of a combined access point/Cable modem. Though the access point component and the Cable modem component may perform operations in different spectrums, harmonics in the Cable spectrum may interfere with operations, e.g., in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz range, of the access point. Some embodiments implement a remediation and/or channel transition process for the access point following detection of Cable-related interference. During remediation, the device may, e.g., adjust the wireless power levels, EDCA backoff times, signal thresholds, etc. In some embodiments, if the remediation actions prove ineffective, the wireless peers may be relocated to a channel further from the interfering Cable harmonics. The determination to remediate or reallocate may be based on various contextual factors, e.g., the character of the peer devices and the applications being run.

In doing so, the AP and UE search across several bands and measure interference on a carrier-by-carrier basis across those bands. Either of the AP and UE may select a cluster of carriers for communication, where the cluster of carriers may comprise 1) contiguous carriers in a single sub-channel, 2) contiguous carriers spanning across more than one sub-channel, 3) discontinuous carriers in a single sub-channel, or 4) discontinuous carriers spanning across more than one sub-channel. The mapping between a cluster and its carriers can be fixed or reconfigurable.

Various embodiments are described herein that improve the signal reception and transmission capabilities of an access point by coupling an active antenna assembly to the access point. An active antenna assembly includes an antenna and at least one active component, such as a low-noise amplifier or a power amplifier. The active component can be connected to an antenna circuit board rather than the main circuit board of the access point, which is typically retained within an access point housing. By positioning the active component near the antenna, the active antenna assembly prevents degradation of signals received by the antenna. One or more coaxial cables can be used to connect the active component of the active antenna assembly to the main circuit board of the access point.

Various embodiments disclose systems and methods for employing a Sub1G signal (e.g. a signal in the range of approximately 500 Mhz or 800 mHz) for use with internal and/or external components of various user devices. The Sub1G region may provide a path loss advantage over traditional 2.4 and 5 Ghz systems because of the lower frequency in free-space path loss model. Sub 1G may also present less interference compared to 2.4 GHz (e.g., better QoS for applications such as VOIP, Gaming, etc.). In some of the disclosed embodiments, Sub1G may be employed using current 2.4G or 5G Wireless LAN chipset with RF Up/Down Converters. In some embodiments, the Sub1G approach may be used to create a Long Range Bridge, Long Range Extender, Long Range Client, Long Range Hotspot, etc.

Systems and methods for wireless link balancing in wireless networks
