Abstract

An article of footwear includes a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region. The article of footwear includes an upper and a sole structure connected with the upper. The sole structure includes a plate, a midsole defining a midsole height that extends from a bottom side to a top side of the midsole, and an outsole. The midsole height is taken at a maximum thickness of the midsole between the bottom side and the top side of the midsole. The midsole defines a plurality of spike apertures that extend from the bottom side of the midsole to the top side of the midsole, and a plurality of spikes are coupled to the plate within the spike apertures of the midsole. The midsole is configured to deform more than 10% of the height, expressed as a percentage.

Abstract

A method of preventing counterfeiting using non-fungible tokens includes manufacturing a physical article with an ID tag that is configured to be recognized by a device that includes a user interface and communicates wirelessly over a communication network. The method further comprises providing a digital asset with a representation of the physical article and metadata, where the digital asset is cryptographically secured by a non-fungible token and the metadata includes a unique product identifier corresponding to the ID tag of the physical article. Further, the method comprises storing the non-fungible token on a blockchain and linking the ID tag of the physical article to the digital asset. When the ID tag is read by the device, the user interface of the device displays the cryptographically secured digital asset with the representation of the physical article.

Abstract

A method for manufacturing a midsole of an article of footwear includes arranging an insert into a mold cavity of a mold base. The insert including a region of solid volume that corresponds with an empty volume within the midsole. The method further includes supplying a midsole material to the mold cavity of the mold base to form the midsole around a negative mold so that the negative mold is embedded within the midsole material to form a midsole lattice structure within the midsole. The method further includes removing the negative mold with the midsole from the mold base. The method further includes removing the negative mold from the midsole.

Abstract

A method of manufacturing a foam component includes printing a preform with a three-dimensional printer. The preform is formed from a pre-saturated mixture of a base material that is at least partially saturated with a foaming agent. The preform is foamed by heating the preform to be at or above a glass transition temperature of the base material, thereby causing the foaming agent to nucleate and expand to form the foam component. Foaming occurs at atmospheric pressure. The preform includes a preliminary lattice structure that corresponds with a final lattice structure of the foam component.

Abstract

A sole for an article of footwear, which has a medial side, a lateral side, a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region, includes a set of ridges concentrically aligned around and emanating outwardly from an epicenter. The epicenter is disposed within the forefoot region and is closer to the medial side than the lateral side. The set of ridges is disposed in each of the forefoot region, the midfoot region, and the heel region. A set of spaces extends concentrically between respective ridges of the set of ridges. The set of ridges includes a plurality of short portions having a height that is smaller than heights of adjacent tall portions of the set of ridges. A flex zone is defined by at least some of the plurality of short portions and is configured to flex more than one or more stiffening zones of the sole.

Abstract

A system to produce a textile component of an article includes an additive manufacturing device in selective communication with a processor and memory. The processor and memory are configured to determine a strain value in a region of a textile component of a reference article based on images of the reference article from a camera in selective communication with the processor and memory and to generate a strain map based on the strain value. The additive manufacturing device is configured to apply a reinforcement to a textile substrate of a custom article to variably reinforce the textile substrate according to the strain map and to form the textile component of the custom article.

Abstract

A sole structure for an article of footwear having an upper includes an outsole having a ground engaging surface and a midsole member disposed between the outsole and the upper. The midsole member has a pocket extending from a heel region to a forefoot region and a sole plate disposed within the pocket. The sole plate extends from the heel region into the forefoot region. In the heel region, the sole structure is shaped to define an entry region that is configured to increase contact at the ground engaging surface during a heel strike. The entry region defines an angled portion that is angled at an entry angle relative to a flat ground surface. The midsole member is a supercritical foam.

Abstract

A method of manufacturing a sole structure includes melting a first material in a first plasticization zone of a first injection line and melting a second material in a second plasticization zone of a second injection line. A first blowing agent is injected into the first material within a first mixing zone of the first injection line. The first blowing agent is a supercritical fluid within the first mixing zone. The first material and the second material are co-injected into a mold to form the sole structure. The first material is injected from a first injection chamber and the second material is injected from a second injection chamber. The first blowing agent nucleates within the mold to expand and foam the first material within the mold.

Abstract

A method of managing digital assets is provided. The method includes receiving an input identifying a first digital wallet. One or more non-fungible tokens associated with the first digital wallet are identified. From the one or more non-fungible tokens, sustainability tokens are selected, each of the sustainability tokens being associated with a corresponding sustainability digital asset. For each of the sustainability tokens, a uniform resource indicator for the corresponding sustainability digital asset is retrieved from a distributed blockchain ledger and based on the uniform resource indicator, attributes of the corresponding sustainability digital asset are retrieved. A composite sustainability score is generated based on the attributes of the sustainability digital assets associated with the sustainability tokens, which is compared to a first benefit criteria and when the composite sustainability score meets the benefit criteria, a first benefit is provided to an owner of the first digital wallet.

Abstract

A method of manufacturing an article of footwear defining a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region includes providing a sole structure and an upper. The method further includes coupling the sole structure to the upper at least in part by winding a first continuous thread around the sole structure and the upper in a first direction in the midfoot region and the forefoot region, winding the first continuous thread around the sole structure and the upper in a second direction in the heel region, and receiving the first continuous thread within a channel of a plurality of channels that are defined by a sole surface of the sole structure. Winding the first continuous thread around the sole structure and the upper is, at least in part, configured to couple the sole structure to the upper. The first direction is different than the second direction.

Abstract

The disclosure relates to a rotary closure including a housing part with an axis to which a rotary knob is attached in order to actuate a tensioning roller for a tensioning element for the rotary closure in order to wind or release the tensioning element. Further, a first gear is connected to the rotary knob and has internal toothing and a second gear is rotationally connected to the tensioning roller and has internal toothing. Additionally, a drive pinion that is coupled to the gears is provided between said first and second gears, and the drive pinion has a mounting that is configured to be radially moved relative to the drive axis in order to selectively couple the pinion to and release the pinion from the internal toothing of the respective first and second gears.

Abstract

A method for fastening a shoe is disclosed. The shoe has an upper part connected to a sole and a rotary closure that fastens the shoe using at least one tensioning element. The rotary closure has a rotatably arranged tensioning roller, and the tensioning roller is driven by an electric motor and a switching element. The switching element is connected to a controller, and includes touch sensitive sensors which form a surface that is accessible to the wearer. The switching element and the controller are configured to actuate the motor, and operation of fastening the shoe takes place by the controller detecting a first swipe signal over the touch sensitive sensors, and causing the fastening of the shoe at a first level of fastening force by the controller and the electric motor.
