Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the prevention and/or the biological control of wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum, via the use of bacteriophages suitable for this purpose, and to the structural characterisation, genome sequence and activity of three specific lytic bacteriophages of R. solanacearum. It relates to podovirus which, between 4º C and 30º C, presents an elevated stability in an aqueous medium in the absence of a host. As a result of the high level of stability, lytic activity, elevated specificity towards R. solanacearum and the absence of activity against the microbiota associated with the plants to be protected, the invention proposes the use thereof for the biological control of R. solanacearum in river courses and irrigation water, as well as a method for preventing and/or controlling the wilt produced by said bacteria, in which at least one of said bacteriophages, or combinations thereof, are delivered to the plants and/or the soil in the irrigation water.

Abstract

The invention relates to the compression of colour images, based on non-linear perceptual representations and machine learning. More specifically, the invention relates to a method for the compression of colour images, comprising the following steps: (1) expressing the coefficients of a local space/frequency representation of the opposing chromatic and achromatic channels in units of perceptual contrast; (2) applying a non-linear transform with divisive normalisation to each channel, such that they include relationships between the coefficients of the achromatic and chromatic contrast channels; and (3) using statistical learning algorithms to select the relevant data from the non-linearly normalised channels. Psychophysical and numerical experiments have been conducted in order to estimate and validate the parameters of the divisive normalisation and contrast transforms. In addition, the above method has been compared experimentally with a JPEG implementation. In both cases, 16x16 DCT blocks were used and, in each case, comparable values were used for the frequency-dependent and chromatic transform parameters. Under these conditions, the experimental results provide an average compression gain of 50% in relation to JPEG for different distortion measurements (RMSE, SSIM and S-CIELab) in the realistic commercial range of [1, 2.2] bits/pix. The invention also relates to the apparatus and code used to implement said method.

The homo and heterometallic coordination polymers, which contain at least one oxalate ligand, are characterised in that they also contain at least one organic molecule capable of stabilising expanded metal complex structures through the formation of supramolecular interactions such that the polymer is substantially soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents. Said polymers, when in the solid state, can generate spinel-type metal oxides or other mixed oxides following a thermal oxidation treatment including steps comprising: the preparation of an alcoholic solution of a metal complex containing at least one oxalate ligand and a metal salt, the precipitation of the metal complex and the metal salt with a cryptand-type molecule through the formation of a coordination polymer that is soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents, the separation of the precipitate obtained in the previous step, and the heating of same in an oxidant atmosphere to a temperature of at least 350ºC until the spinel or mixed oxide has formed.

Abstract

The invention relates to plasmonic nanocomposites based on polymer and metal nanoparticles for lithographic use. More specifically, the invention relates to a method for the synthesis of a nanocomposite formed by a polymer with noble metal nanoparticles embedded therein. The method is characterised in that the noble metal reduction reaction, which produces the nanoparticles, and the polymer chain cross-linking, which forms the polymer matrix, occur simultaneously as a result of the heating generated during the irradiation process, thereby enabling the generation of nanostructures using a standard lithographic process. The invention also relates to the resulting nanocomposites and to the uses thereof in different technical fields.
