Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for image reconstruction of a sample via adaptive probing of piecewise continuous surfaces. A machine learning algorithm can be employed with scanning-based measurement instruments or experimental probers to optimize the selection of probe locations for effectively scanning piecewise continuous surfaces. A limited number of initial probes may first be obtained to estimate the piecewise continuous surface. The machine learning algorithm may then be leveraged to identify any subsequent probe locations used to obtain additional data points about the piecewise continuous surface. The selection of the probe locations may be performed iteratively until sufficient data has been obtained to generate an accurate image reconstruction.

Abstract

In accordance with the purpose(s) of the present disclosure, as embodied and broadly described herein is versatile polyene cyclization strategy that exploits conjugated β-ionyl derivatives. Photomediated disruption of the extended π-system within these chromophores unveils a contra-thermodynamic polyene that engages in a Heck-type cyclization to afford [4.4.1]-propellanes. The connectivity of overbred polycycles generated from this process is controlled by the position of the requisite C-Halide bond. Thus, compared to conventional biomimetic polyene cyclization, this approach allows for complete control of regiochemistry and facilitates incorporation of both electron-rich and electron-deficient (hetero)aryl groups. This strategy was successfully applied to the total synthesis of abietanes such as, for example, taxodione and salviasperanol, two isomeric abietane-type diterpenes that previously could not be prepared along the same synthetic pathway.

Abstract

A device may include a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) device configured to generate a localized magnetic field waveform at a brain region. A device may include an acoustic controller configured to generate an audio waveform having at least one of rhythm, harmonic element, or melodic element synchronized to the localized magnetic field waveform. In various implementations, the brain region is a motor cortex of a patient. The device can evoke or produce neurostimulation effects through acoustic stimulation (e.g., music) through classical (or Pavlovian) conditioning paired in combination with synchronized transcranial magnetic stimulation output. The device can be used to extend the effects of neuromodulation, thus reducing the burden of in-patient visits (for procedural neurostimulation), reducing battery life demand of implanted devices, or simply improving the patient experience with achieving benefits (i.e., by listening to music versus unnatural sensory sensations with neurostimulation).

Abstract

A system may measure, via a functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) device, a first set of measurements of a prefrontal cortex region of a patient. The system may perform, via a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) device, TMS treatment to the prefrontal cortex region for therapeutic effect. The fNIRS device may measure a second set of measurements of the prefrontal cortex region. The system includes a processor to determine an applied dosing of the TMS treatment based on the first set of measurements and/or the second set of measurements. The system may output control feedback to the TMS device or visualization to a display to adjust one or more parameters or localization of the TMS treatment based on the applied dosing. The system personalizes the treatment dosing of TMS more accurately over the prefrontal cortex by calibrating the dose to the prefrontal cortex based on measurements from the fNIRS device.

Abstract

bb-ionyl derivatives. Photomediated disruption of the extended p-system within these chromophores unveils a contra-thermodynamic polyene that engages in a Heck-type cyclization to afford [4.4.1]-propellanes. The connectivity of overbred polycycles generated from this process is controlled by the position of the requisite C–Halide bond.

Abstract

A non-intrusive, in-situ power method for measuring the loss associated with magnetic components (for example, an inductor) of a power converter is provided. The method involves first capturing a first set of voltage and current waveforms from the power converter. An additional capacitor is then connected to the power converter and a second set of voltage and current waveforms are captured. Based on the first set of waveforms and the second set of waveforms, a timing skew between the current and voltage waveforms captured from the power converter may be determined. This timing skew may then be used to determine the loss of the inductor. The loss may be used to design an optimized power converter.

Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for producing optimized electronic components. Particularly, the systems and methods may involve the use of a "three-legged approach" for determining design parameters for electrical components (and/or insulation of the electrical components) such that the electrical component is not subject to partial discharges (PDs) at a maximum operating voltage of the electrical component. The approach may involve extracting maximum bulk (e.g., orthogonal) and surface (e.g., tangential) electrical stress (e.g., electrical field) information at operating temperatures, comparing the values of these electric fields with electric field values that are likely to cause the inception of one or more PDs in the electrical component (which may be determined through modeling), and linking these results with PD measurements (such as the surface partial discharge inception voltage, SPDIV).

Abstract

Provided are methods and apparatus for recovering collided packets in a wireless network, as well as for implementing block-based error correction techniques. In an example, provided is a method to recover collided packets by (A) assigning a peak of a collided packet to a respective packet by calculating a matching cost, per collided packet, from an amplitude of the peak and a time when the peak occurred, where the matching cost is determined from a combination of per-collided packet parameters including (i) respective estimated symbol boundaries of the collided packets, (ii) respective estimated Carrier Frequency Offsets of the collided packets, and (iii) a peak amplitude history of prior packets received from wireless network nodes, and (B) assigning, based on a respective packet in the collided packets having the parameters producing a lowest matching cost among the calculated matching costs, the peak to the respective packet.

Abstract

Coils for superconducting magnets and methods of making coils for superconducting magnets and controlling the turn-to-turn contact resistance of coils. The coils include a REBCO superconducting tape coated with a layer of tin-lead solder, co-wound with an oxidized stainless steel tape. The inclusion of tin-lead solder on the REBCO tape and a layer of oxidation on the stainless steel tape advantageously allow for tuning of the turn-to-turn contact resistance of the coil, and advantageously mitigates the effect of repeated pressure cycling on the turn-to-turn contact resistance.
