Abstract

The automatic release control system (17) for controlling the connection between two elements, refers to a system for efficiently controlling the connection between two elements, preferably between a user and an apparatus (40), such as a ski or snowboard, on which the user's leg or foot is retained. The mechanism (17) ensures that whatever the direction, application point and strength of the resultant of the forces transmitted by the apparatus (40) to the leg, the releasable retaining system (16, 17, 16', 17') will release under the action of a potentially injurious force and remain in retaining state if no injurious forces are involved.

EXOSKELETON FOR SAFETY AND CONTROL WHILE SKIING

Application Number ES2008000242

Abstract

The invention relates to an exoskeleton for safety and control while skiing, for preventing knee, leg and hip injuries, avoiding excessive twisting of the knee, and other movements that can potentially cause injury to the person wearing the exoskeleton, in addition to providing some control over the skis when said sport is being practised. The exoskeleton comprises at least one first support element for coupling the exoskeleton to the body above the knee, at least one second support element for coupling the exoskeleton to the body below the knee, both support elements being interconnected by means of a joining assembly which prevents the lower limbs from moving into harmful positions, at least one engagement mechanism which is operatively coupled between two elements of the exoskeleton, and at least one sensor detecting movement and/or pressure from any part of the body of the skier, for transmitting a signal to the engagement mechanism.

EXOSKELETON

Abstract

The invention relates to an exoskeleton for enabling people to do a physical activity, especially skiing, in such a way as to prevent knee, leg and hip injuries, avoiding excessive twisting of the knee, and other movements that can potentially cause injury to the person wearing the exoskeleton. The exoskeleton deflects the potentially harmful forces to the strong parts of the body and resists the forces generated when the body is moved into anatomically dangerous positions. Said exoskeleton comprises at least one first support element for coupling the exoskeleton to the body above the knee, at least one second support element for coupling the exoskeleton to the body below the knee, both support elements being interconnected by means of a joining assembly which prevents the lower limbs from moving into harmful positions, and at least one angle limiting mechanism which limits the relative torsion between the first support element and the second support element.
