Abstract

A curved blade for a delimbing head operable to cut branches from a felled tree is disclosed. The curved blade comprises a cutting rim, at least one portion of which comprises a continuous flange defining a continuous cutting edge, as well as at least one row of ribs that are straight and parallel to each other, extending in the direction of at least one face of the cutting rim from the continuous flange. The continuous cutting edge of the blade having these straight parallel ribs reduces the lateral load of the continuous cutting edge during the operation of cutting branches from a felled tree.

Abstract

The invention relates to an air inlet device for a turbine comprising a water wheel (10) that can be mounted in a canal (15) created in a water course in a natural environment, this canal comprising two vertical walls (12, 14) between which the wheel can turn about a horizontal axis, and a bottom bounded by a wall (40) at least part of which comprises a cylindrical arc connecting an upper region upstream of the side via which the water enters the turbine to a lower region via which the water agitated by the wheel exits, approximately in vertical alignment with the axis of rotation (35) thereof, thus forming a race (44) within which the external radial ends (24) of the vanes of the water wheel pass, grazing the bottom wall. In the intake region, the bottom wall (140) of the race has a portion (50) that defines a slope that descends in the downstream direction, of adjustable inclination, such that a pivoting flap, which has an upstream end (62) the position of which can move between a relatively low first position away from the vanes (24) of the wheel (10) and a relatively higher position closer to the path of the vanes of the wheel. The position of this upstream end (62) determines the level at which the water admitted to the machine enters. The slope of the adjustable wall portion (50) allows the stream of water admitted to be accelerated by giving it a chosen orientation. The adjustable wall portion or flap (50) has a bottom end (48) from which the stream of water enters between the vanes of the wheel at the end of the intake zone. An adjusting member allows the flap (50) to be altered to suit the desired operating conditions.
