Abstract

A method for differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) involves deleting a sequence encoding LNC000093 long non-coding RNA from the iPSC genome, culturing the modified iPSCs to generate colonies, and dissociating these colonies to form embryoid bodies. The embryoid bodies are transferred to a first plate to induce neural rosette formation. The neural rosettes are detached and cultured in suspension to develop into neurospheres, which are subsequently transferred to a second plate to promote differentiation into RGCs.

Abstract

A ring focus spectacle lens (1) for controlling the progression of myopia, and a manufacturing method therefor. The ring focus spectacle lens (1) can provide clear vision for a patient, and also has a plurality of ring-shaped defocusing zones to provide an optical defocusing effect. Since there is no joint between successive concentric rings of different optical powers that are tangent to each other, the ring focus spectacle lens (1) is as aesthetic as a common spectacle lens. In the manufacturing method, three front mold cores (71), a rear mold core (72), and a planar rear mold core are used to manufacture a series of ring focus spectacle lenses (1) having different powers, thereby reducing the number of mold cores and the production cost. In addition, for the requirements of individuals with severe myopia and astigmatism, a semi-finished lens is provided by means of the manufacturing method, which not only greatly reduces the number of mold cores, but also reduces the inventory quantity of desired lenses, thereby reducing costs.

Abstract

The present application relates to the prevention and treatment of osteoarticular diseases, in particular osteoarthritis (OA), by inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Specifically, this application provides a disease progression-modifying drug for the treatment of osteoarthritis, i.e., an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, in particular a dimeric acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. The dimer targets both the enzymatic triad and non-enzymatic peripheral sites of acetylcholinesterase, thereby enhancing protection of articular cartilage and subchondral bone.

The present application is applicable to the technical field of data processing, and provides a psychological stress level detection method, apparatus and system. The method comprises: obtaining the number of micro-gestures, i.e., the frequency of micro-gestures, performed by a user within a first preset period; and inputting the frequency of micro-gestures into a stress level detection model to obtain the stress level grade of the user. According to the method provided by the present application, the stress level grade of the user is determined according to the frequency of micro-gestures performed by the user, so that the accuracy of detecting the stress level grade of the user can be improved. Moreover, compared with determining the stress level grade of the user by means of recorded sound data or image data, the method can reduce the risk of leaking user privacy, and has wider application scenarios.

Abstract

The present application relates to the technical field of medicine. Provided is the use of integrin α5β1 as a target in the screening of drugs for preventing and/or treating bone loss. 8-isoprenyl flavone glycoside can replace a ligand fibronectin on cell surface receptor integrin α5β1, thereby achieving the binding of 8-isoprenyl flavone glycoside to the integrin α5β1, and thus improving the osteogenesis ability and the cell adhesion. Therefore, by using integrin α5β1 as a target of a drug for preventing and/or treating bone loss, and by means of the binding of 8-isoprenyl flavone glycoside to integrin α5β1, the activities of ALP, RhoA and Rac1 in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can be significantly improved, thereby promoting the osteogenesis and the cell adhesion, promoting the development of drugs for bone loss, and providing a new strategy and routine for the treatment of bone loss diseases.

Abstract

A gait event-driven, phase-dependent and multi-modal foot rehabilitation system, and a use method thereof. The system comprises: a pressure sensor module (110) which measures a pressure distribution value of a foot sole in real time; a micro-control module (111) which compares the measured pressure value with a preset threshold value to identify different gait events in a dynamic gait and a pressure balance on the inner and outer sides of the foot sole and to control a corresponding operation in real time; a neuromuscular electrical stimulation module (100) which applies or stops a suprathreshold electrical stimulation delivered to a target muscle of the foot on the basis of the recognized gait event; a combined pneumatic musculo-skeletal module (200) which comprises a pneumatic muscle (305) and deflates or inflates the pneumatic muscle (305) on the basis of the recognized gait event; and a vibratory biofeedback module (109) which, when recognizing an imbalance of pressure between the inner side and the outer side of the foot sole, provides a biofeedback to correct the imbalance of force exerted by the foot sole. The gait events comprises heel striking, heel off and sole off. The system can correct foot drop and foot varus, mitigate muscle compensation and dystrophy, and restore a normal gait.

Abstract

Provided are an optical fiber sensor and a magnetic field strength measuring apparatus. The optical fiber sensor comprises an optical fiber (2) and a magnetic component (1). At least one optical fiber (2) is provided. The optical fiber (2) extends in a preset direction. A preset position is provided in the extension length of the optical fiber (2), and a Bragg grating (21) is formed at the preset position. The magnetic component (1) is connected to the preset position of the optical fiber (2). The magnetic component (1) can generate a position offset under the action of magnetic force, so as to allow the Bragg grating (21) at the preset position to produce a bending deformation perpendicular to the preset direction. The magnetic field strength measuring apparatus comprises the optical fiber sensor. The optical fiber sensor aims to solve the technical problem of inaccurate magnetic field strength measurements caused by the use of a current-carrying conductor, which is susceptible to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference.

Abstract

In generating training and testing datasets for machine learning, manual annotation of a large volume of data is impractical and expensive. A machine-learning model for detecting carcinoma (CA) from a whole slide image (WSI) processes average cellular features of cells identified on the WSI. Each cellular feature is a descriptive statistic of the cells, advantageously allowing the training and testing datasets to be constructed without a costly annotation process of pixelwise labelling each cell on a WSI training sample. Apart from predicting a CA case or a non-CA case for the WSI, the machine-learning model is also usable to: identify a suspicious CA case for priority assessment if a non-CA case is predicted for the WSI; generate a tumor probability heatmap of the WSI for visualizing potential CA regions on the WSI to assist pathological assessment; and assess quality control of a triage system before implementation in clinical setting.

Abstract

In an indoor environment on fire, automatic deployment of sensors disposed on, beneath or over the floor to look upward the ceiling to observe a body of smoke and flame risen near the ceiling allows important information regarding states and dynamics of the body of smoke and flame to be gathered at an early stage of fire (e.g. before arrival of firefighters). By distributing the sensors over the indoor environment, the states and dynamics of the body of smoke and flame are monitored holistically (i.e. as a whole) even at the early stage of fire. Such information is useful to predict development of the fire. In one implementation, a sensor is held in an infrastructure sensor holder mounted on the ceiling during normal time. Upon detecting occurrence of fire, the sensor drops from the holder to land on the floor and orients a sensing direction vertically upward to perform monitoring.
