Abstract

[Problem] To provide a method for producing a high-purity ether-type glycerophospholipid with high efficiency by a simple procedure. [Solution] This production method comprises treating a biological material or a tissue thereof with a protease to lyse the tissue of the biological material and, simultaneously with or subsequent to the treatment with the protease, treating the lysate with a lipolytic enzyme to hydrolyze a diacyl-type glycerophospholipid contained in the tissue of the biological material. It becomes possible to produce a high-purity ether-type glycerophospholipid with high efficiency by a simple procedure without requiring a primary extraction operation, i.e., the extraction of all of lipids before a treatment with an enzyme, or an operation for removing a neutral lipid from all of the lipids or a re-suspension operation.

Abstract

A compound produced in tea leaves by fermentation and not found in raw material tea leaves is obtained by fermenting for 3 to 10 days using black rice malt and particularly using second-picking tea as the tea leaves, and used as an active ingredient in medicines for suppressing elevation of the blood sugar level, lowering triglycerides, improving liver function, suppressing elevation of the blood pressure, improving cholesterol metabolism, improving renal function, and the like. In addition to being obtainable from fermented tea leaves, the compound can also be prepared by chemical synthesis, biosynthesis, and the like, once its structure has been identified.

Abstract

A process for producing a functional material by deoiling/defatting poultry epidermis via a heating treatment to thereby concentrate and pasteurize a human type sphingomyelin and a plasmalogen type glycerophospholipid contained in the epidermis, characterized in that the heating treatment comprises: (A) the step wherein hot water and/or steam having been heated to 100oC or higher is continuously jetted into a heating chamber that is a semi-closed space having been heated to the same temperature or higher to thereby generate water droplets and hot and wet steam; (B) the step wherein the atmosphere in the above-described heating chamber is replaced by the water droplets and hot and wet steam as described above so as to fill the chamber with a gas component (gaseous water) which has a relative humidity of 95% or higher and an oxygen concentration of 0.2% by volume or less and is maintained within a temperature range of from 100 to 115oC; (C) the step wherein 100%-moistened steam is jetted to the above-described gaseous water so as to stably form a composite heating medium which comprises the hot water, water droplets and steam; and (D) the step wherein the poultry epidermis is subjected to the heat treatment by conducting continuous amplitude heating of a temperature difference of at least 10oC with the above-described composite heating medium in an atmosphere at a temperature of 100 to 115oC and an oxygen concentration of 0.2% by volume or less.

Abstract

A process for producing sphingomyelin and plasmalogen-form glycerophospholipid, characterized by comprising:(A) a step in which all lipids are extracted from a chicken-skin powder and dried; (B) a step in which the dried all lipids obtained in the step (A) are extracted with a solvent mixture of an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent and a water-soluble ketone solvent to separate the lipids into an insoluble part consisting mainly of sphingomyelin and a soluble part; (C) a step in which the insoluble part consisting mainly of sphingomyelin obtained in the step (B) is extracted with a solvent mixture of water and a water-soluble ketone solvent to remove the non-lipid ingredients from the soluble part; and (D) a step in which the soluble part obtained in the step (B) is dried and then extracted with a water-soluble ketone solvent to separate and recover an insoluble part consisting mainly of a plasmalogen-form glycerophospholipid. Thus, high-purity sphingomyelin, especially human sphingomyelin, and a plasmalogen-form glycerophospholipid can be produced in a satisfactory yield from the skin of a chicken by a simple operation.
