A system for cleaning a surface of a substrate includes a cleaning element including a resilient compressible material. A liquid source provides liquid directly to the cleaning element, and a squeezing roller engages the cleaning element and applies pressure thereto, to squeeze out excess liquid from said resilient compressible material. A counter element opposes said cleaning element such that the substrate is disposed between the counter element and the cleaning element. While maintaining a substantially uniform velocity of conveying the cardboard item through the system, the cardboard item is logically divided into areas and one or more laser-beam scanners are assigned to the areas. As such, the complex areas of the cardboard can be made smaller and/or multiple laser-beam scanners can be assigned to the complex areas to help ensure that dwell time on the cardboard is not increased.

A pretreated-cardboard stripper system for stripping a plurality of sections (package layout) from a pretreated cardboard; blank a pretreated cardboard. The system can separate between the one or more sections themselves; sort between the stripped sections and the waste. Some embodiments may include a vacuum sorter having a vacuum chamber with openings along its surface (or on part of its surface) and a peeler. A pre-treated cardboard, after been pretreated, may lay on top and along part of the surface of the vacuum chamber. The peeler may then transfer part of the pre-treated cardboard away from the surface of the vacuum chamber. Another embodiment of a pretreated-cardboard stripper may include a selective mask sorter. Yet another embodiment of pretreated-cardboard stripper may include an electrostatic selective mechanism.
An automatic-adjustable stacker for controlling the movement of a media, such as cardboard, through a media handling system. The stacker includes a media receiver positioned proximate a feed of the media that receives a leading edge of the media and a controller that causes the media receiver to move from a first position for receiving the media, to a second position for depositing of the media at a desired location. The media receiver is configured to prevent the media from coming into contact with other media already located at the desired location until the media has arrived at the desired location, while creating a concave-like shape to the media while conveying it.

A cardboard-handling system is disclosed. An example of the system can have a rule-die associated to a first drum and a counter die associated to a second drum for pre-treating cardboards. An alignmentor on a first side of the two drums aligns and conveys a cardboard together with a side-gripper conveyor toward the drums. The side-gripper conveyor transfers the cardboard through the drums for pre-treatment of the cardboard. Next, the side-gripper conveyor conveys the cardboard toward and through a laser-treatment module. The laser-treatment comprise a laser; a base with a plurality of protruding elements; and a coupling mechanism. The coupling mechanism couples one or more cardboards to the top surface of the one or more of the protruding elements while the laser's beam cuts the cardboard.
